Day 2: Eid celebrations continue across the country

Eid Al Adha is known as “Bodu Eid” in Maldives, which can be said as big fiesta. So the celebrations of eid do not finish in one day. The celebrations usually last for a minimum of three days in most of the islands in Maldives. Hence, the second day of eid was as joyful as or more joyful than the first day.

Sun journalists, from many islands covered the second day of this year's “Bodu Eid”.

Hussain Hassan from Dhaalu Hulhudheli:

Males of Hulhudheli arranged the second day’s celebrations. They invited “Animation” dance group for the stage show. Hulhudheli men warmly welcomed the dance group with a cultural dance.

The adults and youths organized men’s “Dhafi Negun”, a cultural event for the evening.

Ahmed Sharuwan from Alifu Alifu Thoddoo:

Thoddoo Sosun Club organized a “Bashi” competition. On the second day of eid, a match was played in the afternoon. The Parliament Member Ibrahim Hassan was the chief guest of this match. A music show was held in the evening.

Ahmed Sail Ali from Male:

“Eid Show” organized by Dhiraagu held at Raalhu gan’du. A huge audience gathered to see the performance of many famous music groups.

Readers of Sun, from different islands of Maldives shared how they celebrated the second day of eid through messages and photos.

Gaafu Dhaalu Nadallaa:

“Nadallaa Island Development Society”, an association of Nadallaa, organized a magic show for children in the afternoon. Many children with their parents gathered to see this magic show. A lot of events were planned for evening also.

Alifu Alifu Kuramathi island resort:

A “Bashi” match played and lot of other events were organized to celebrate eid on the second day. A special football match among the staff of the resort and a dinner night for staff would be held on the following day.

Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo:

Many delightful events held on the second day, including “Bileh Dhafi Negun”, and “Koadi Ken’dun”.

Noonu Miladhoo:

Many events to celebrate eid were held. These events were seen by a lot of people.

Raa Rasmaadhoo:

Some traditional events like men’s “Koadi Ken’dun”, and “Bodu Beru” were performed on the second day.

Tourism minister Ahmed Adheeb visited the island to see these events.

Baa Kamadhoo:

Kamadhoo women’s committee and youths with the island council planned and held a music show for the second day of eid celebration. This show would be held on the following day also. There would be women’s “Koadi Jehun” and “Fenkulhi” (a type of water play) on the third day of eid.

Thaa Kadoodhoo:

Like the first day, cultural events are held on the second day.

Laamu Maabaidhoo:

A music show is held on the second day of eid celebration. Cultural activities such as “Bileh Dhafi Negun” and “Koadi Eluvun” were planned for the next day.

Thaa Dhiyaigili:

A cultural dance group “Lan’giri Group” from Vaavu Keyodhoo performed a show in Dhiyamigili on the second day.

Females’ cultural dance “Ban’diyaa Jehun”and Men’s “Bodu Beru Jehun” would be held on the next day.
