Detention extended for a 13th time, for man arrested over sexual abuse of disabled minor

The Criminal Court has extended the period of detention for a 13th time for a man arrested from an island in Kaafu Atoll, on suspicion of sexual abuse of a child with disabilities.

The suspect was arrested in May, and the court extended his detention period by 15 days last week.

Sun Online has been informed that the 25-year-old suspect is a relative of the 14-year-old victim, who suffers from speech and hearing impairments.

The family of the victim said that she had been abused several times, and that she used an iPad to mark the days on which she suffered abuse.
