President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that under the government’s project “24-hour electricity guaranteed”, 24-hour electricity will be provided to the whole country within the next nine months.

Speaking at a function held on Wednesday evening to inaugurate the consignment of 77 generators brought in by Fenaka Corporation to the atolls, the President noted that the government is working to improve the economy and since “energy is the lifeline of an economy”, the government guarantees 24-hour electricity across the country.

“The 77 generators that will be consigned tonight, and Fenaka has also brought in 60 generators earlier. We are ensured that for the first time in the history of Maldives, 24-hour electricity will be provided to the whole country,” President Yameen said.

The President stated that the current government does not discriminate between Male’ and the islands, and the whole country stands to benefit from the government’s undertakings. He also said that the work by Fenaka Corporation is proof of this.

“There won’t be any demarcation of people as upper level and lower level citizens by my government. All citizens are of upper level,” President Yameen said today.
