Origi scores and creates as Lille moves to the top

Forward Divock Origi scored one goal and set up the other as Lille beat Nantes 2-0 at home Sunday to move top of the French league, while Marseille leapfrogged Bordeaux into second place with a 3-1 win at Evian.

Nantes conceded two quick goals after the break.

The 19-year-old Origi, who is on loan from Liverpool and played for Belgium at the World Cup, opened the scoring in the 47th with a powerful header. He created the second goal for Portuguese midfielder Marco Lopes three minutes later.

"We saw two sides to Lille today. We deserved to be jeered off the pitch at halftime because we simply weren't with it," coach Rene Girard said. "So I told the players to face up to their responsibilities. I got angry at halftime because I had to set the record straight. It was a good thing for us to score so early in the second half."

Despite a major rift between new coach Marcelo Bielsa and president Vincent Labrune, Marseille cruised to a third straight win thanks to goals from striker Andre-Pierre Gignac — after just 25 seconds — midfielder Giannelli Imbula and winger Florian Thauvin.

Gignac latched on to Rod Fanni's long pass to beat goalkeeper Benjamin Leroy with a powerful half-volley; Imbula grabbed the second just before halftime with a deflected shot from outside the penalty area, and Thauvin sealed the win in the 63rd when he finished from Dimitri Payet's pass.

Forward Clarck Nsikulu pulled a goal back for Evian in injury time.

During the international break, Bielsa launched an astonishing attack on Labrune, saying he had reneged on promises during the transfer window and signed Brazilian defender Doria behind his back. Bielsa has stood by his comments and the fiery Argentine coach is set for a showdown meeting with Labrune on Monday, although with his team in this sort of form the momentum appears on Bielsa's side.

Bordeaux had started the day top of the league but a 2-1 loss away to Guingamp saw coach Willy Sagnol's side drop down to third. Lille has 11 points after five rounds, with Marseille one point behind and ahead of Bordeaux on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Guingamp's win moved it out of the relegation zone as Bordeaux lost its first game of the season.

Midfielder Moustapha Diallo and forward Christophe Mandanne scored in the first half, before Mali striker Cheick Diabate got Bordeaux back into the match in the 83rd.

Two-time defending champion Paris Saint-Germain was held to a 1-1 draw at Rennes on Saturday — its third stalemate in five matches — and is two points behind Lille in fifth spot.
