Government to implement Youth Entrepreneurship Program

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed has announced the government plans to implement a Youth Entrepreneurship Program soon.

He said this while speaking at the Prize Day 2014 ceremony of Majeediyya School held on Thursday evening.

Saeed said that efforts are ongoing to implement many projects to establish an economic environment that would create jobs in different areas for young people.

He highlighted the shortage of trained individuals in many sectors in the Maldives, and said that the establishment of the Special Economic Zones and the Hulhumale’ Youth City would create jobs in industries that presently do not exist in the Maldives.

“Students have a great responsibility in the social and economic development of the country. It is important that students prepare themselves during school years, to take on these responsibilities. Developmental targets can only be achieved if you open your eyes and minds to achieving those targets,” he said.
