Maldivian football icon Ashfag receives green passport

The Maldivian government has presented a green passport to the captain of the national football team, Ali Ashfag (Dhagandey).

The passport was presented to Ashfag by Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim, at a ceremony at the Department of Immigration and Emigration this morning.

Ashfag was appointed the country’s first sports ambassador by the Maldives Olympic Committee in May 2014, and he is the first Maldivian sportsman to receive a green passport.

Green passports are held by government officials above the level of Director General, to be used during official visits.

The Maldives Olympic Committee said that the presentation of the green passport to Ashfag, is a great encouragement for all aspiring Maldivian sportsmen.
