Mini tornado hits Carnival

A mini tornado was observed in Carnival area this morning. It did not cause any injuries or damage.

The mini tornado was first observed west of the Carnival stage at around 9:30. People at Lemongrass restaurant watched it for about ten minutes, as it touched the ground, circled, and disappeared.

Witnesses say that even though the wind picked up in the area with the mini tornado, it was not powerful.

Department of Meteorology said that no information of a mini tornado had been received, however noted that tornados are common with bad weather or with changes in weather conditions.

A tornado was also observed in L. Fonadhoo area last Saturday. It hit a garbage area, resulting in a burst of garbage over a large area. A girl who observed this incident had to be taken to the hospital.
