Elections Commission Secretary General dismissed

Secretary General (SG) of the Elections Commission (EC) Asim Abdul Sattar has been dismissed over failure to reach the performance standards required by the commission, EC Director Ahmed Aboobakuru has told Sun Online.

Aboobakuru, who has temporarily taken over the responsibilities of the SG, said today that the decision to remove Asim from the SG post was made by members of the commission on 3 August.

“The employment agreement requires him to score above 75 percent in the performance appraisal. He did not meet the score and Elections Commission made a decision to remove him from the Secretary General post,” said Aboobakuru.

Asim Abdul Sattar was appointed Secretary General of the Elections Commission in April 2012.
