Election of lower court judge to JSC scheduled for 25 August

The election of a lower court judge to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has been announced for 25 August.

The election was initially scheduled for 20 July, but was postponed following requests from judges to delay the poll until the end of Ramadan.

An official from the Department of Judicial Administration said today that the election will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on 25 August.

Lower court judges standing for the judicial oversight body membership include Senior Magistrate at Faafu Magoodhoo Court Abdul Sattar Sulaiman, Drug Court Judge Zubair Mohamed, Drug Court Judge Mohamed Easa and Civil Court Judge Ali Naseer.
