Man missing from Rinbudhoo found dead

An elderly man missing from Dhaalu Rinbudhoo since Tuesday has been found dead in the lagoon of an uninhabited island.

Rinbudhoo council vice president Ahmed Niyaz said that 73-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was discovered in the nearby island of Kanneifaru by a group from Rinbudhoo around 9:45 a.m. today.

“We suspect that he died and drifted to the island. The island is very close. We can see it from here, but its even closer to Bandidhoo,” said Ahmed Niyaz.

Ahmed Mohamed, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, was last seen heading to the sea around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
