A Visa Application Centre will operate in Male’ for one day on 27 August, the British High Commission has announced.

The optional service, which allows applicants who are resident in the Maldives to submit their UK visa application and biometric data using a mobile facility, will be located in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Male'. The centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on 27 August 2014, the High Commission said in a press release today.

“This initiative will make it easier for Maldivians to submit their visa applications and biometric data for all visa categories, including students at this busy time of year. I hope that many Maldivians will make good use of this opportunity and apply online to meet the deadline,” said John Rankin, British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Applicants must apply for the UK visa, pay the visa fees and book an appointment online. The online application will stay open from today, 6 August, till 12 noon on 25 August, 2014. The British High Commission has also said that the VAC does not have the facility to accept any fee in cash, and that the VFS value added service also has to be paid online.

There is no British High Commission in Maldives. Most Maldivians travel to Colombo or Chennai to lodge their UK visa applications.
