Dynamo beats United 1-0 with 91st-minute goal

HOUSTON (AP) — Will Bruin scored in the first minute of added time to give Houston a 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Sunday to end the Dynamo's winless streak at eight games.

Houston, with newcomers DeMarcus Beasley and Luis Garrido in the lineup, dominated throughout the match and finally broke through after a defensive blunder by United defender Steve Birnbaum.

Birnbaum allowed a looping back pass from Taylor Kemp to bounce past him, and Omar Cummings pressed forward. Cummings beat Birnbaum and goalkeeper Bill Hamid to the loose ball, and slid a crossing pass to Bruin.

United had won its four previous games.

At Carson, California, Canadian forward Tesho Akindele scored the lone goal in the 49th minute as FC Dallas beat Chivas USA 1-0.

Fabian Castillo set up the goal, passing to Akindele for the easy tap-in. Castillo nearly extended the lead in the 92nd minute with a shot that bounced squarely of the near post.

Chivas USA's best chance came when Erick Torres missed a header over the crossbar in the 78th minute.

Dallas extended its undefeated run to seven games, while Chivas lost its third straight.
