Scolari returns to Gremio for third stint

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (AP) — Luiz Felipe Scolari, who resigned two weeks ago as Brazil coach, is returning to Gremio for his third stint in charge of the Brazilian team.

The club confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.

Scolari first coached the club in 1987 and returned six years later for another stint.

Brazil was humiliated earlier this month in the semifinals of the World Cup, hammered 7-1 by eventual champion Germany. It was one of the worst defeats in the country's history and led to the appointment of Dunga, who had previously coached the national team from 2006-2010.
