Maldivian will introduce seaplane flights to Haa Alif Atoll in August, the national airline has announced.
Abdul Harish, Managing Director of Island Aviation Services has confirmed that Maldivian will begin flights to Haa Alif Atoll in August. He did not provide details.
Harish said that the company is currently in the process of negotiating seaplane flight prices and other arrangements with island resorts across the country. The airline currently flies seaplanes to Thaa Atoll.
Maldivian has two additional seaplanes in order due to arrive later this year. The national carrier brought its first DHC6 Twin Otter Aircraft in April and a second plane of the same model in June.
Maldivian, which already flies to domestic airports across the country, commenced efforts to provide a seaplane service in October 2013 and assures that the seaplane operation will be open to local customers.
