Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has met with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to discuss ‘party matters’, shortly after Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) parliamentary group members voted against Gayoom’s request regarding the appointment of a new Prosecutor General (PG).
Gayoom said in a tweet on Thursday night, “Discussed party matters with President Yameen today. Insha Allah PPM will go from strength to strength!”

Recently, President Yameen nominated Maumoon Hameed for the post of PG and sent his name for approval by the parliament. This was followed by Gayoom sending a letter to PPM parliamentary group members requesting them to vote for Maumoon Hameed.
PPM parliamentary group, however, issued a three-line whip against Gayoom’s request, and voted for Criminal Court Judge Muhthaz Muhsin for the post of PG.
