Judge Muhthaz has a clean record of conduct, says JSC

Prosecutor General nominee Criminal Court Judge Muhthaz Muhsin has not been convicted of an issues of conduct by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the commission said in a statement today.

The commission also expressed concern over allegations by opposition-aligned news outlets Raajje.mv and Raajje TV against Judge Muhthaz Muhsin.

The commission described it as an "irresponsible act by Raajje.mv and Raajje TV, opposed to the actions of a responsible news agency tasked to deliver correct information the public.”

Parliamentary group of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) on Saturday defied an order by the party’s president, former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and issued a three-line whip to vote for Judge Muhthaz Muhsin in the parliament approval vote for a Prosecutor General candidate scheduled for Monday.
