Several members of the cabin crew of Flyme, a local airline operated by Villa Group, have gone on strike after the company failed to pay their salaries before the 10th of the month, as stated in their employment contracts.
A cabin crew member told Sun Online on the condition of anonymity that despite this being stated clearly in their contracts, they often receive their salaries after the 10th.
“Some cabin crew members have stopped going to work. Some flights have a minimum requirement in terms of the number of cabin crew members. They have sought a special permit from the aviation department to operate those flights,” he told Sun Online.
He further said that some flights have already been cancelled, and more flights are likely to be cancelled tonight and tomorrow.
When contacted by Sun Online, Director of Flight Operations of Flyme Mohamed Muja said that they were ‘looking into the matter’ and will comment later.
