Application opens for lower court judges for JSC membership

Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has called for applications for the election of a lower court judge to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Interested judges are required to file their candidacy by Monday, 14 July. Lower courts are currently represented in JSC by Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Didi, who is also vice president of the commission.

JSC, the primary judicial oversight body of the state, is comprised of the Speaker of the Parliament, a MP presenting parliament, President of the Civil Service Commission, Attorney General, a judge from a lower court, a judge from High Court, a judge from Supreme Court, a lawyer from the public and a general member from the public.
