President Yameen to make state visit to China

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will make a state visit to China in August, the President’s Office has announced.

Spokesperson of the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun Online today, that this visit will be made on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Muaz said that the Chinese government has also extended an invitation to President Yameen to attend the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games and a reception held in relation to this event.

“…The President has visited several neighbouring countries. The most important country that he has not yet visited, out of those that provide assistance to the Maldives, is China. China is an economically influential country, and Maldives is sure to benefit from the official talks that will take place during this visit,” said Muaz.
