Parliament was brought to a premature halt again today after the sitting decended into fights and chaos due to disagreements amongst ruling and opposition party members.
The sitting lost order when opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) member, Henveyru-central MP Ali Azim said that a majority of the people believe that “Tourism Ministry is the most corrupt ministry” in the current government.
MP Ali Azim made the statement to Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adheeb during the Minister’s question session.
The commotion that followed saw pro-government MPs protest against the statement, and the sitting turned to a brawl after MP Azim declared that the opposition will not allow the question session to continue. The sitting was soon adjourned by Speaker Abdulla Maseeh.
