The issue of approval of two Ambassadors as requested by President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has been sent to the Parliament’s National Security Committee.
The Ambassadors requiring Parliament approval are Maldivian Ambassador to China Mohamed Rasheed of H. Carnation villa and Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Hussain Shihab of M. Kali. Parliament approval for the appointment of Shihab as Non-resident Ambassador to Philippines and Australia was also requested.
Following the presentation of the names sent by the President by Parliament Secretary General to the Parliament as obliged by Article 115 of the Constitution, Deputy Speaker of Parliament announced that as before, the names will be sent to the Parliament’s National Security Committee for investigation.
Next on the agenda in today’s Parliament session was the debate surrounding the medical devices bill submitted by Velidhoo MP Ali Mohamed. However today’s session was brought to an end due to the loss of quorum.
Other issues on the agenda today were to study the report of bill on domestic violence, to debate on the bill on registration of businesses, and to debate on the report on the revision of Parliament regulations.
