Schools to close for Ramadan

Ministry of Education has decided to suspend school for grades 9 and below, including pre-school, for the month of Ramadan.

In a circular communicated with schools today, Education Ministry said classes will still continue for grades 10, 11 and 12, from 9:00 a.m. on normal school days. It also instructs the schools to inform parents of the designated school starting times and session suspensions as required, for the relevant grades.

Education Ministry has shortened class durations to 45 mintues per classes and 3 hours per session for grades that will continue classes in Ramadan.

Depending on the visual sighting of the crescent moon, Ramadan is predicted to start on 28 June and end on 27 July in Maldives this year.
