Ibu elected as Parliamentary Group Leader; Ali Waheed and Aslam as Deputies

Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) has been elected as Maldivian Democratic Party (MPD) Parliamentary Group Leader, and Thoddoo MP Ali Waheed and Hithadhoo Uthuru MP Mohamed Aslam have been elected as Deputy Parliamentary Group Leaders.

Ibu, who was the only candidate for Parliamentary Group Leader, was elected with the votes of all 24 members present at the meeting at MDP Office today.

Ali Waheed was elected with 23 votes, while Aslam received 18 votes. Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel) received seven votes. Colonel has been a candidate for Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader three times with no success.

Mohamed Gasam was elected as Parliamentary Group Secretary General with 23 votes. His competitor Hamid Abdul Gafoor received 22 votes.

The three whips elected today were Galolhu Uthuru MP Eva Abdulla with 24 votes, Baarah MP Mohamed Shifaz with 23 votes, and Hulhumeedhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb with 23 votes.
