Sun Media Group has received the International Star for Leadership in Quality Award, by Business Initiative Directions (BID).
At the award ceremony at Hyatt Regency in Paris, France, on Saturday night, awards were presented to 70 recipients from 49 countries.
The International Star for Leadership in Quality award in Gold Category was presented by President of BID Jose E. Prieto, and accepted on behalf of Sun Media Group by CEO Sinaan Ali, Chief Editor Ahmed Zahir (Hiriga) and Marketing Manager Minha Faiz Rashad.
The BID Quality Awards are presented to companies or organisations for overall achievement, to recognise quality and excellence within various areas.
According to BID President Jose Prieto, “The award recipients are icons of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, making them models for others in their sectors.”
Nominations for the awards are put forward by a BID committee made up of previous award winners, and winners are chosen by a panel of quality evaluators who take into account a variety of factors including but not limited to dedication to clients, proven track record of achievements and innovations, and a strong online presence and reputation.
BID was established in 1986, and recipients of its awards over the past 28 years include India’s second largest bank ICICI Bank, Russian multi-national computer security company Kaspersky Lab, Grant Thornton Russia, Qatar’s Gala Hospitality, NCR Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Korea Electric Power Corporation, Indian company Reliance Infrastructure Limited, Turner Construction, and Tata Group.
Winners from the Asian region in 2014 include companies from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
BID recognised Sun Media Group’s achievements and excellence over the past five years. Commencing its services in 2008 with Sun FM Radio available only in Male’, today, Sun Media Group operates a radio station, a TV Station, online newspapers Sun Online Dhivehi Edition and Sun Online English Edition, and Sun Magazine.
BID’s award ceremonies have been held in London, Paris, New York, Madrid, Frankfurt, Moscow, and Geneva. Its main office is located in Madrid, Spain.
