Maldivian to conduct seaplane test flights

The national flag carrier Maldivian is preparing to conduct test flights for its new seaplane operations.

Abdul Harish, Managing Director of Island Aviation Services told Sun Online today that test flights for the new seaplanes will be conducted around Male’ area on Wednesday.

The company is looking to launch its full operation during the first week of July. Haris said Maldivian will initially operate two daily flights between Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) and Thaa Atoll. Service to other regions will commence in the near future, he added.

Maldivian brought its first DHC6 Twin Otter seaplane in April, and a second plane was brought in early June.
