Economic Minister, two MPs join PPM

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed, Nolhivaram MP Hussain Areef, and Milandhoo MP Hassan Mufeed have joined Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

They signed the membership forms tonight at a ceremony at Muleeaage.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mufeed said that his decision to join PPM follows repeated requests by people of Milandhoo constituency, to start working with the ruling party.

Similarly, Areef said that he will work with PPM to facilitate fast development for his constituency.

“I am confident that I can address your needs much better with their [PPM’s] advice and assistance,” he said.

President of PPM Maumoon Abdul Gayoom said while speaking at the ceremony that the government can implement developmental projects much easier when PPM gains majority in the parliament.

The parliamentary groups of government coalition parties PPM and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) now have 40 and 5 members respectively.
