President proposes three officials as Heads of Diplomatic Missions

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has proposed three officials for Head of Diplomatic Mission posts, and sent the names to the parliament for approval.

The nominations are Abdulla Hameed as Non-Resident Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and the State of Kuwait, Ahmed Shiaan as Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, and as Non-Resident High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and Mohamed Asim as Non-Resident High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Some of these nominations are re-submissions, after they were sent back by the 17th parliament which could not make a decision at its conclusion.
