Met Office website hacked

Website of the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has been hacked.

An image posted by the hackers claim a group called “Syrian Revolutionary Soldiers” is responsible for defacing the website and that it was done to bring focus on the civil war in Syria.

An official from the Met Office said their website was hacked sometime last night and that the office’s technicians are examining the website.

A group claiming to be Anonymous Maldives hacked the United Nations Maldives website in March 2013, claiming that it was done to prove that the website’s security was inadequate. Websites of the Criminal Court and Indian High Commission in Maldives were also hacked in 2013.
