Gasim elected leader, Riyaz Deputy Leader of JP parliamentary group

Maamigili MP Gasim Ibrahim and Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz have been elected as the leader and deputy leader respectively, of the parliamentary group of Jumhooree Party (JP).

Secretary General of JP Ahmed Sameer told Sun Online that Gasim and Riyaz, the only two candidates who contested for these posts, were elected at a meeting of the JP parliamentary group this morning.

Also at the meeting, Hanimaadhoo MP Hussain Shahdhy was elected Spokesperson, and Thinadhoo-South MP Abdulla Ahmed was elected Deputy Spokesperson of JP.

Sameer said that 10 out of its 15 MPs were elected as council members, and Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Naseem and Bilehdhoo MP Ahmed Mubeen were appointed as whips.
