AFC Challenge Cup: Laos 0

Philippines has won the third Group B match in the AFC Challenge Cup by 2 – 0 against Laos, and moved closer to the semi-final. Having lost two matches, Laos is now out of the competition.

Laos lost to Turkmenistan 1 – 5 in the first Group B match, and the second match ended in a draw of 0 – 0 for Afghanistan and Philippines. Following today’s win, Philippines is now leading in Group B with 4 points.

The third Group B match kicked off at 4:00 p.m. today, in the afternoon heat at Addu Football Stadium.

Laos played a defensive game - and while Philippines dominated in terms of ball possession, several of their opportunities to score were wasted or ended up in offside.

The goals for Philippines came in the 40th minute by 27-year-old midfielder Simone Rota, and in the 63rd minute by Patrick Alcala Reichelt.

The fourth Group B match is set to kick off at 9:00 p.m. at Addu Football Stadium, in which Turkmenistan will play against Afghanistan.
