Addu City seeks investors for guest house tourism

Addu City Council has today called for expression of interest for the development of guest houses in the city.

Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodig told Sun Online today that local and foreign investors have been invited to express interest for the guest house project, which includes the establishment of guest houses with 2,000 beds in six areas in Addu City.

He said that the purpose of encouraging guest house tourism in the city is to create jobs and facilitate development.

He informed that privately-owned land will be leased for the development of guest houses, which will be done by holding discussions with owners of uninhabited land plots regarding leasing them long-term.

Sodig further informed that the land plots chosen for this project will be larger than 4,000 sq ft and each guest house will consist of 1,000 rooms, and restaurants will also be developed near the guest houses.

He thanked the government and the people of Addu City for their support for this project.
