Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has on Sunday started its academic year for 2014 with 566 new students.
The school is also conducting a life skills program for the new students. The program, which began one week prior to commencement of the new academic year, is expected to continue until Sunday.
The government’s higher secondary education school received 982 eligible applications for 2014, but was forced to filter the applications to accommodate a limited number of students.
The 566 fresh admissions comprises of 314 female and 252 male students. A total of 169 students joined CHSE from the atolls for the 2014 intake.
Established in July 1979 and located in the capital Male', CHSE guides students to sit the British GCE Advanced Level certification in subjects of science and business.
