Elderly woman drowns in Gaddhoo

An elderly woman has died this morning after drowning in the sea in Gaafu Dhaalu Gaddhoo.

A police media official said they received a report around 8:00 a.m. of a 74-year-old woman drowning in Gaafu Dhaalu Gaddhoo today. The woman was already dead when she was taken to island’s health centre. She has a habit of exercising in the sea each morning, the official told Sun Online.

The woman has been identified as Aminath Fauziyya, a local resident of the island, Vice President of Gaddhoo Council Mohamed Sujau said.
