Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has warned of worse weather during the next 24 hours, along with strong winds of up to 40 to 50 miles per hour and heavy rains in most parts of the country.
The strongest winds, up to 47 mph, were recorded in Seenu Gan between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The capital Male’ recorded the highest rainfall of 98 millimeters within 24 hours from 8:00 a.m on Monday. Seenu Gan, the southern most atoll, experienced 39 millimeters of rainfall and Gaafu Dhaalu Kaadedhdhoo saw 34 millimeters of rainfall during the same 24-hour period.
MMS has advised the public to use caution when embarking on sea travel. , the service said.
