Fazeena, Naushad win Journalist of the Year awards

Summary
Maldives Journalism Award 2013, organized by the Maldives Media Council, is now underway in Dharubaaruge, Male’. The ceremony will see “Journalist of the Year” awards conferred to journalists from three separate categories. Winners of the Maldives Journalism Award are selected by an independent panel of judges consisting of Maldives Broadcasting Commission Chairman Ibrahim Umar Manik, former Minister of State for Information Thoyyib Mohamed, former Aafathis editors Abdulla Naeem Ibrahim, Mohamed Nazeef and Ahmed Zahir. Journalists nominated for the award are reviewed based on their discipline, richness of content, adherence to proper journalistic practices, quality of presentation and inclusion of photos and videos in their content.

Threats from public to media outlets are increasing. There have been no efforts to stop this. This is something that all journalists agree.

The Journalism Award ceremony is hosted by Television Maldives (TVM) presenter Hamza and Raajje TV presenter Zaarifa. Each journalist who wins the award will also win MVR 10,000 in prize money.
