The first seaplane acquired by Flyme, operated by Villa Air, has arrived in the Maldives.
The Cessna C208 aircraft departed from Wichita, Kansas, USA, where Cessna Aircraft Company has its headquarters, and landed at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) at 6:24 p.m.
The aircraft was welcomed by Chairman of Villa Group Gasim Ibrahim, Minister of Transport Ameen Ibrahim, and senior officials of Flyme.
Villa Air has said that the aircraft, which can accommodate two pilots, one cabin crew, and seven passengers, will initially be used to transport tourists to scenic locations - but depending on demand, it will also be used to transport tourists to resorts.
Villa Air started operations about two years ago and presently operates two aircraft with 46-people capacity.
Villa Group Chairman Gasim Ibrahim said that Flyme will acquire two more seaplanes at the end of the year.
