Official team to investigate cracks in the ground in Maaenboodhoo

A team made up of officials of Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Ministry of Environment and Energy, and Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure are preparing to visit Dhaalu Maaenboodhoo to investigate cracks that appeared in the ground after efforts began to deepen the island’s lagoon.

In addition to the ground, cracks also appeared on the wall of a football field in the island following the dredging.

Senior Environment Analyst of EPA Riffath Naeem said that it has been noted by some groups that the cracks are related to the efforts to deepen the lagoon.

“So a team from Housing Ministry, Environment Ministry and EPA will depart to the island today,” he said.
