DhiFM Plus warned in relation to inverted photos

Maldives Broadcasting Commission has warned DhiFM Plus not the repeat the action, after it showed upside-down photos of some members of Elections Commission.

Broadcasting Commission said in a letter to Maldives Media Company, which runs DhiFM, that the station showed inverted photos of three Elections Commission members on 23, 24, and 25 February, and that the commission found after investigation that this was done in a manner that undermines the honour and reputation of the members.

The commission also noted that this was a violation of Article 3 (1) of the Broadcasting Code of Practice, and warned the station that strict action will be taken if this is repeated.

Meanwhile, Broadcasting Commission notified DhiFM Plus last month to apologise after it showed an inverted photo of former Elections Commission President Fuad Thaufeeg.

The commission also took action against DhiFM Plus in September 2013 for showing photos some officials.
