President recalls nomination for ambassador to EU, Belgium

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has withdrawn from the parliament the name of former Minister of Tourism Hassan Sobir, proposed as the new Maldivian ambassador accredited to Belgium and the European Union.

This was announced by the chair during sixth sitting of the first session of parliament held today. Hassan Sobir’s name was forwarded to the parliament for approval on 16 February.
