The Attorney General’s (AG) Office has said that Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Saeed sought consent from necessary authorities prior to his departure to Singapore to take part in the GMR arbitration hearings, as an expert from the State.
This has been confirmed to Sun Online by an official of the AG Office.
Meanwhile, Judicial Service Commission (JSC) member Shuaib Abdul Rahman told Sun Online earlier today that Judge Abdulla Saeed had not requested consent from JSC to depart the country.
Judges Act of the Maldives requires sitting judges to seek consent of the State's primary judicial oversight body, JSC, before taking part in any legal or judicial matter beyond of their designated courts.
