This government will serve everyone, regardless of political affiliations: President

President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the present government will serve everyone, and not discriminate based on people’s affiliations with political parties.

The president said this while speaking at an event at Artificial Beach on Thursday night, to mark the success of Progressive Coalition in the Parliamentary Election.

“I will not discriminate based on party colour. Our government’s services will reach all colours. The benefits of this Maldivian government will be distributed among all colours. In my eyes, every citizen is a beloved Maldivian citizen. Every citizen deserves the services of our government. That’s my responsibility. I will do it,” said President Yameen.

He noted that some developmental projects have been delayed, and said that great efforts are being made to achieve the pledges made in the government’s manifesto.

“You have elected this government for five years. It’s unlikely that everything can be done in 100 days. But we are determined to continue to work towards achieving those goals and serve the people,” he said.

He said that people voted for the Progressive Coalition in the Parliamentary Election because they believe that the coalition would facilitate development, and serve them with honesty and sincerity.

“We want to change the country’s landscape, speed up economic progress. We want to assure the people of the Maldives that leaders who will work with honesty and sincerity do exist. We want to show that not all politicians are frauds. Not all politicians are trying to deceive the public,” he said.
