Education Ministry calls for applications for tertiary education loans

Ministry of Education has called for applications for loans under its tertiary education loan scheme.

In a statement issued today regarding the announcement calling for applications gazetted on 18 March, the ministry said that students wishing to study abroad or in the Maldives, as well as students whose studies are already under way, are welcome to apply for this loan.

Education Ministry said that under this scheme, 100 loans will be given for bachelor’s degree courses in the Maldives, 50 loans will be given for master’s degree courses in the Maldives, 80 loans will be given for courses abroad, 150 loans will be given for payment of tuition fees, and 220 loans will be given for ongoing full-time courses.

Department of Higher Education has advised applicants, when applying for courses abroad, to ensure that the country of study is included in the list of countries for which loans are issued.

Education Ministry said that priority will be given to education in areas where trained personnel are needed in the Maldives.

Loan applications for studies in the Maldives and abroad can be submitted from 28 to 30 April between 9:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., and loan applications for payment of tuition fees and full funding can be submitted from 15 to 18 June between 9:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. at Velaanaage.
