The necessary changes to the Maldives health care system will be announced within the next few days, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said today.
Speaking at a meeting with the people of Thaa Guraidhoo, President Yameen acknowledged that the current health care system is in need of change, and assured that the government will deliver the necessary development.
Speaking of the parliament's role in facilitating development, President said that despite the parliament's central role in facilitating progress, it must also remain unbiased, responsible and independent in holding the government accountable.
“Parliament has a large role in facilitating the things the government wants accomplish. The people fully supported the government during the last presidential election, and the parliament has to facilitate the things that the government wants to provide for its people,” President Yameen said.
Concluding his event in Guraidhoo, President Yameen travelled to Thaa Veymandhoo this afternoon and assured its people that the government will focus on the development of the island. He said that the ruling coalition’s victory in the recent parliamentary elections signifies a shift in the views of people across the country.
