MACL orders removal of boats from seaplane area

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has ordered the removal of all vessels docked on the eastern side of Hulhule’ island, as they pose a threat to seaplanes landing in the area.

“It is important that the area remains safe. The company is extremely concerned of an incident that might result in damage to life and property due to an accident during the landing or takeoff of an aircraft,” MACL said.

The company further said that reclamation work on the northern side of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport will begin this year and that the area will be closed for local vessels starting from May.
