Immigration asks employers to hand back visa cards to expats

Department of Immigration and Emigration has issued an announcement telling employers to hand over work visa cards to their foreign employees.

The department said last week that they have come to notice - following a recent joint operation with the Labour Relations Authority - that a large number of employers hold the work visa cards, which are originally issued by the department to be retained by the employees.

Immigration Department, in a conceited effort reduce the number of undocumented workers in Maldives, allowed over 3000 undocumented workers to voluntarily fly back their home countries.
