Government signs agreement regarding establishment of sewerage systems in three islands

The government has signed an agreement with Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) for a MVR 140 million project to establish sewerage systems in Alifu Dhaalu Maamigili, Meemu Mulah and Meemu Dhiggaru.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Ministry of Environment and Energy today, by Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim and Managing Director of MWSC Ahmed Umar.

Speaking at the ceremony, Environment Minister Thorig noted that this is an important step towards the implementation of the government’s policies, and assured that the project would facilitate the provision of sewerage system services to all citizens in the three islands.

The project should be completed within 18 months of the signing of the contract agreement.

The government has also signed an agreement with MWSC regarding the establishment of water systems in these three islands.
