Marijuana plant discovered in Maafaru

A five-foot tall marijuana plant has been discovered in Noonu Maafaru today.

The plant was discovered near fences erected for the airport development project, Maafaru council president Mohamed Amir told Sun.

“It was reported by a local, around 10:45 this morning. We are certain that it is a marijuana plant,” Amir said.

The island council has confiscated the plant until the police arrive, who have been dispatched to the island.

Police have yet to comment on the issue.
