Civil Court orders to postpone Media Council election

Civil Court has ordered to postpone the election of a president to the Maldives Media Council (MMC), until the court rules on the case filed against MMC by MMC member Abdulla Muaz Yoosuf.

The order reads, “…Until the court rules on the case filed by Abdulla Muaz Yoosuf against Maldives Media Council, Maldives Media Council is hereby ordered to halt all efforts towards electing a new president.”

On 19 February, MMC declared void the meeting held on 12 February during which Abdulla Muaz was elected president.
