Hajj Corporation, established by the government last year, has introduced two packages for hajj pilgrims.
The two packages were launched at a press conference at Islamic Ministry today.
The first package is aimed at pilgrims wishing to go for hajj this year. Hajj Corporation’s fee for this year’s hajj pilgrimage is MVR 69,965. Under this package, the corporation will provide training sessions on how to perform hajj, assistance carrying belongings at airports, religious advice 24 hours, and health assistance. The corporation has also arranged two halls at the hotel in Mecca for laundry and ironing.
The second package is for people who wish to plan going for hajj in the future. Under this package, people can pay the fee in instalments, and for example deposit a monthly amount from their salaries to an account at Hajj Corporation.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Aishath Muneeza said that this is the first time such packages are introduced in the Maldives, and that the packages will greatly benefit pilgrims.
