Aquiva Fushi, a new drinking water produced using heat from generators, has been launched today following research by UK’s Aquiva Foundation in collaboration with State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).
Thhis new brand of water, produced using generators at the power house in Gulhi, was launched by Minister of Health Dr Maryam Shakeela at a ceremony held in Gulhi today.
Speaking at the ceremony, former Minister of Environment and Energy Dr Shakeela said that the commencement of the production of water using heat from generators is a great achievement for the country.
She also highlighted that it was part of the first 100-day targets of the new government, to complete this project and facilitate supply of this water to the public.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of STELCO said that this project is a great achievement for STELCO. He said that the production of water using heat from generators will be expanded to other islands in the Maldives.
